The Missouri Department of Transportation is reminding residents they have until Thursday to review and comment on a draft list of high-priority, unfunded transportation projects across the state.
MoDOT and its regional planning partners developed the list to guide future work as state and federal transportation funds become available. The draft outlines $4.7 billion in high-priority road and bridge needs, which are divided into three tiers based on timeline and estimate readiness.
Tier one includes $541 million in projects that could be accomplished within the current five-year Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). Tier two outlines $2.1 billion of needs beyond the current STIP timeframe, and tier three includes another $2.1 billion in long-term needs.
In addition to road and bridge projects, the current draft identifies $1 billion in multimodal needs and $1.1 billion in statewide maintenance and operations needs.
Working with planning partners this year, MoDOT successfully moved 20 projects worth $186 million from the unfunded needs list to the fiscal year 2027-2031 STIP, which was finalized in July.
The public is invited to review the remaining unfunded priorities and submit feedback on the order of projects through Thursday.
The draft document, comment forms and an interactive dashboard allowing users to filter needs by tier, county or legislative district can be found online at modot.org/unfundedneeds. For more information, call MoDOT at 888-275-6636.
