Recent Troop G crashes injure eight

A West Plains man was seriously injured in a crash at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 14, 6 miles west of West Plains, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Tpr. L.C. Pruiett, Troop G of the patrol, Willow Springs, reported an eastbound 2015 Ford F150 driven by Kary A. Downs, 29, swerved to avoid an animal, ran off the right side of the road, returned to the road, ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

Downs was wearing a seat belt and refused medical treatment, the report shows.

E.J. Shelley, 84, Cabool, suffered serious injuries when his vehicle struck a trash truck at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday on MM Highway, 5 miles north of Mtn. Grove in Wright County.

Tpr. Z.B. Tate reported a northbound 2009 Chevrolet Impala driven by Shelley hit a stationary 2004 Mack truck from behind.

There was no driver in the trash truck at the time of the collision, according to the patrol. Shelley was reportedly wearing a seat belt and was flown by Life Flight to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment.

Tate was assisted at the scene by Cpls. J.R. Sellars and T.R. Wright.

Two were injured in a head-on collision at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday on Cherokee Road, a half-mile south of Norwood in Wright County.

Tpr. Tate reported an eastbound 1996 Toyota 4Runner driven by Andrew P. Todd, 23, Norwood, crossed the center of the road and swerved back to the right to avoid an oncoming 2016 Ford F150 at the same time the pickup truck swerved left to avoid the Toyota.

The vehicles struck, causing the Toyota to overturn off the side of the road, according to Troop G.

Todd suffered moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, the patrol reported.

The driver of the Ford, Corey L. Neese, 18, Norwood, reportedly suffered minor injuries and was transported by private vehicle to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision, Troop G reported.

A Michigan resident suffered moderate injuries in a crash at 2 a.m. Monday on west U.S. 160 a mile west of Isabella in Ozark County.

Sgt. L.S. Elliott reported a westbound 2015 Ford F250 driven by James O. Emenhiser, 67, Bangor, Mich., ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

Emenhiser was not wearing a seat belt and he was transported by Ozark County Ambulance to Baxter Health in Mtn. Home, Ark., the report shows.

Elliott was assisted at the scene by Cpl. J.R. Roberts.

Serious injuries were reported for a Mtn. Grove motorcyclist in a crash at 7 p.m. Sunday on N Highway, 8 miles west of Mtn. Grove in Wright County.

Msgt. D.B. Pounds reported Everrett M. Bishop, 20, was eastbound on his 2004 Honda motorcycle that failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the road, throwing him from the vehicle.

Bishop was wearing a helmet, and taken to Cox South by Mercy Ambulance, the report shows.

A man from Mississippi and a Texas County woman were hurt in a crash at 11:45 a.m. Saturday on U.S. 63, near the intersection of UU Highway 5 miles south of Houston in Texas County.

Tpr. C.K. Johnson reported Elizabeth I. McNeese, 63, Solo, was the driver of an eastbound 2010 Toyota Corolla that pulled into the path of a northbound 2015 Honda Civic driven by Randolph M. Perkins, 23, Gulfport, Miss.

Both drivers wore seat belts and were taken by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, the report shows.
