Missouri Eighth District U.S. Rep. Jason Smith (R-Salem) paid a visit to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains on Thursday to tour the facility and hear concerns about rural healthcare and the impact of possible federal budget cuts to rural Missouri hospitals. Smith, who serves as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, said he is working to protect Missouri’s share of $50 billion in appropriations and has met with major health insurers to discuss affordability of prescription drugs and care accessibility.
