Spring forward on Sunday

Posted

This Sunday marks the beginning of daylight saving time, observed on the second Sunday of March each year.

Clocks are set forward one hour, at 2 a.m.

When you change your clocks, be sure to check the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. Batteries in smoke detectors should be replaced yearly, and smoke alarms that are at least 10 years old should be replaced as sensors become less effective over time.

It’s also a good time for families to review and practice emergency escape plans, take unwanted or expired medicines to a prescription drop box and update the household first aid kit.

This year, daylight saving ends Nov. 3.
