The Summersville Friends of the Library finalized plans for upcoming autumn fundraisers, holiday events, and library incentives during their regular September meeting.
The Sept. 3 meeting was led by Branch Librarian Kathie Cox, who provided the financial report and agenda.
The group approved the purchase of two $25 gift cards for upcoming drawings held in conjunction with Library Card Sign-up Month, recognized each September. Following the purchase, the organization's account balance stands at $798.08.
To enhance financial security, members voted to add a Texas County Library board member as an authorized signature on the group's bank account, which currently lists only one name.
The annual Sweets & Reads Bake and Book Sale is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 23 at the library, 480 First St. in Summersville. The group is requesting donations of baked goods from community members to support the event.
Looking ahead to the holiday season, members discussed holding an adult craft day in November, with specific project ideas and dates to be finalized at the next meeting.
Cox reported she has contacted the Missouri Department of Conservation regarding a children's presentation at the library in December, with the Friends group planning to provide refreshments. Additionally, the group plans to feature "The Grinch" to represent the Friends of the Library in the Summersville Christmas Parade on Dec. 4.
Attending the meeting were Cox, Sydney Calhoun, Vicki Maston, Diana Richardson and Charlotte Spencer.
The next Summersville Friends of the Library meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 1 at the library.
