The Summersville Friends of the Library discussed upcoming children’s programs, book events and summer reading plans during its April meeting.
The group reviewed minutes from its March meeting and accepted a financial report showing a current balance of $1,073.93.
Kathie Cox led discussion of the Summer Reading Program, with activities scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursdays beginning in June.
Members also discussed whether to continue the Coffee Club, which has not drawn the expected level of community participation. After discussing possible programs of interest and factors affecting attendance, the group decided to hold off on continuing Coffee Club meetings.
The group’s April meeting was held April 5 with Cox, Sydney Calhoun, Charlotte Spencer and Diana Richardson in attendance.
Two April events were discussed: the children’s Princess Tea and the Plants and Books Sale. The Princess Tea was scheduled for April 11, with supplies needed including cupcakes, tea and bingo prizes. Calhoun volunteered to make cupcakes and provide crocheted bracelets for participants. Bethany Willis, Summersville High School’s 2026 homecoming queen, was expected to attend, and the group agreed to give her a gift card in appreciation.
The Plants and Books Sale was scheduled for April 24.
Ongoing library programs include Story Time at 11 a.m. Tuesdays with Miss Kathie and Book Club at 1:30 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month.
