Two Festus residents suffered fatal injuries when their gyrocopter struck a power line and crashed in Reynolds County.
Tpr. M.J. Rudy, with Troop G of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Willow Springs, reported the Magni aircraft crashed at 5:53 p.m. Sept. 23 off of County Road 334, about 5.5 miles west of Annapolis. The aircraft was flown by a 54-year-old man and carrying a 50-year-old woman.
Both the pilot and his passenger were pronounced dead at 4:15 a.m. Thursday, the report shows.
The deaths mark the 23rd and 24th traffic fatalities for 2026 in the nine-county Troop G area, compared to 26 in the same time frame last year.
Rudy was assisted in the accident by the Reynolds County Sheriff’s Office and Cpt. G.J. Loring.
