Ozarks Healthcare, in partnership with the West Plains R-7 School District, is broadening the patient population served at the Zizzer Clinic to better support community members while continuing to provide timely care for students during the school day.

As of February, clinic services have expanded to include non-school-aged children of all West Plains School District faculty and staff, as well as faculty and staff from surrounding rural schools, including Fairview, Glenwood, Howell Valley, Junction Hill and Richards. Additionally, services are now available to spouses and dependents of Ozarks Healthcare employees.

To support the growth, family nurse practitioner Emily Redfearn has joined the clinic to provide care. Redfearn previously practiced at the Ozarks Healthcare Walk-In Clinic. She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Southeast Missouri State University and a master's degree in nursing from Maryville University.

The Zizzer Clinic was established as an on-campus walk-in clinic designed to offer easy access to care while children are at school. The model helps minimize time away from class and reduces disruptions for parents and guardians who may otherwise need to leave work for minor medical concerns. With short wait times, students can be evaluated and treated quickly, often returning to class the same day.

The clinic serves students, staff and faculty of the West Plains School District, including South Fork Elementary, along with Ozarks Healthcare employees. It also serves students from the Fairview, Glenwood, Howell Valley, Junction Hill and Richards school districts, plus the Southern Missouri Technical Institute. Available services include routine health checks, treatment of minor injuries, mental health services and care for illnesses.

The Ozarks Healthcare Zizzer Clinic is located at 1013 College St. on the West Plains School District’s campus. It is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Walk-ins are welcome, and appointments can be scheduled in advance by calling 417-505-7123.
