FAIRVIEW SCHOOL

Voters in the Fairview R-11 School District turned down a $5 million bond proposal on Tuesday that would have funded a new gymnasium and classroom expansions.

The measure, which would have increased the district’s debt service levy by $0.57 per $100 of assessed valuation, failed with 394 votes against and 167 in favor.

Incumbents Kristopher Kirby and Zach McNett were reelected to the school board in unopposed races. They will serve three-year terms.

KOSHKONONG

In Koshkonong, the Oregon-Howell R-3 "Proposition Blue Jays" saw a narrow victory. The $650,000 bond to fund heating, venting and air conditioning repairs and parking lot maintenance passed in Howell County by a single vote — 15 to 14 — and saw a wider margin of approval in Oregon County, where 53 voters cast ballots in favor to 41 against. The district’s debt service levy will remain unchanged at $0.80 per $100 of assessed valuation.

All three candidates for three-year terms on the district’s board — Ronnie Bunch, Anthony Ogden and Nathan Tate — were uncontested. Additionally, Jane Ward ran unopposed and will serve on the board for a one-year term.
