Daily Quill to close for funeral
The West Plains Daily Quill office at 205 Washington Ave. will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to allow staff to attend the funeral of longtime colleague Carol Mayfield. Business hours will resume at 1 p.m.
Mayfield was an employee of the Quill’s printing department for nearly 50 years. Her obituary is published on Page 5 of today’s edition.
City of West Plains to host blood drive
The City of West Plains will host a Red Cross blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday.
Donors who give blood through May 17 will receive a $20 Amazon eGift Card. Appointments can be made online at redcrossblood.org using the sponsor code COWP. More information on donor incentives is available at rcblood.org/Amazon.
Mtn. View P&Z to hold work session
The Mtn. View Planning and Zoning Board will hold a work session at 5 p.m. Monday in the City Council Chambers, 120 N. Oak St.
The tentative agenda includes discussions on Airbnb guidelines and zoning restructuring.
United Federated Republican Women meet Thurs.
The United Federated Republican Women will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at Ostermeier Brewing Company, 1872 S. U.S. 63.
The program features a presentation on firearms by Gene Stanley of Guns 4 U and the announcement of Judge Donna Anthony Scholarship winners.
Republican women and their husbands are invited to attend at no charge. The group meets the first Thursday of every month.
Friends of Garnett Library to host luncheon
The Friends of the Garnett Library will host a monthly luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the library, 304 W. Trish Knight St. in West Plains.
President Tiffany Young will present the annual report, and Director of Library Services Rebekah McKinney will provide an update on library activities.

Rendezvous on the Ridge set for May 9
The fifth annual Rendezvous on the Ridge will be held from 9 a.m. to evening May 9 at the Big Rock Candy Mountain campground in Jadwin, Dent County.
The free festival features a Literary Jamboree with 16 Ozarks-centered authors, craft demonstrations, mule jumping and live music. Participants include several from the greater West Plains area.
