Words To Live By: Near

Posted

You may be wondering why the word “near” should be important to us. The dictionary tells us
that it means closeness — in time or in physical distance.
The Bible tells us repeatedly that God is near. “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who
call on him in truth” (Psalm 145:18). “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted” (Psalm 34:18).
In time and space, and in every way we can imagine, God is near to us. Let us follow the
guidance of the prophet Isaiah as recorded in verse 6 of chapter 55: “Seek the Lord while you
can find him. Call upon him now while he is near” (NLT).
We may not always feel God’s closeness, but we can trust the truth of scripture. In James 4:8,
we read, “Draw near to God and God will draw near to you.”
Our Creator knows us, loves us and is near to us.
May God bless your week!
