As Memorial Day and the 250th birthday of our great nation draw near, our display frames at Summersville Library are filled with photos of some of our local veterans as we honor their service to our country. All branches of the military are represented, as well as most battles fought over the past 100 years. Stop by the library and pay your respects to some of our country’s bravest heroes. Most are gone from our lives now but never from our hearts.
Summer Reading is quickly approaching! For the first time this year, we will offer an adult Summer Reading challenge. The theme is "DINOSAURS: Unearth a Story," and we will throw in some America’s 250th anniversary themes as well.
Registration for both kids and adults will start the week of May 23. We are currently taking monetary donations to help with costs associated with the program. Any help is always appreciated.
"Paul: Apostle of Christ" is new to our DVD collection, and "The Paris Match" by Kate Clayborn is new to our fiction shelf.
Texas County Library cards are free yet priceless! You’ll need to bring both a current photo ID and proof of a current address — such as canceled mail, a utility bill or a checkbook — when applying for a new card.
The Summersville Friends of the Library group needs new members to continue the beneficial work our group does to help with activities for children, adults and our community.
