Ozark National Scenic Riverways will host two managed deer hunts at Big Spring this fall, providing special opportunities for youth and mobility-impaired veterans.
Applications are accepted through July. Ten hunters will be randomly selected for each event.
The youth hunt is scheduled for Dec. 5 and 6. Applicants must apply online through the Missouri Department of Conservation at mdc.mo.gov/managedhunt.
The Exceptional Warrior Mobility-Impaired Hunt will be held Oct. 31 through Nov. 1. Applications are available at go.nps.gov/BigSpringHunt2026.
For public safety, portions of the Big Spring area will be temporarily closed during both events. Closures will be in effect Oct. 30 through Nov. 1 for the mobility-impaired hunt and Dec. 4 through 6 for the youth hunt. All affected areas will reopen the Monday following each hunt.
The Exceptional Warrior hunt is conducted in partnership with the Foundation for Exceptional Warriors, the Missouri Department of Conservation, Jolly Cone, Quilts of Valor, OA Rentals and the Ozark Riverways Foundation.
