From the Aug. 20, 1956, edition of the Quill: “FLOYD HOWELL of Koshkonong in Howell County and his Missouri State Fair winning team demonstrate the form that bested 16 other teams entered in the competition. Howell raises beef and dairy cattle and says his prize pulling team can do a lot of work on the farm, too. The contest was held under “Ozark Rules”. His team weighed 1,800 pounds and the winning pull was 6,400 pounds for a record 355.5 per cent. Notice how this team digs in for a powerful pull on a heavy load.”
