Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains has announced the arrival of the first baby born in 2024 at its Women’s Center, Waylon Cooper.

Born at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Waylon measured 22 inches and weighed 7 pounds, bringing “boundless joy” to his proud parents, Braylen Thompson and Andrew Cooper of West Plains, officials announce. Waylon was delivered by Dr. Jeffrey Roylance from Burton Creek Rural Clinic, with care provided by Ozarks Healthcare staff throughout the family’s birthing experience.

To celebrate the special occasion, Women’s Center staff presented Waylon and his family with a care package, including a wagon filled with a plethora of baby essentials and goodies.

"We were thrilled to welcome Waylon into the world,” said Women’s Center Manager Kate Renfrow. “Our dedicated team is honored to have played a part in this joyous moment for Waylon and his precious family.”

Ozarks Healthcare officials say the entire health system extends its heartfelt congratulations to the new family, and looks forward to being a part of their health and wellness journey as they embark on this exciting chapter of parenthood.
