The West Plains High School Student Council recently received the Honor Council Silver Award from the Missouri Association of Student Councils during the 2026 MASC State Convention at Branson High School.
The award recognizes outstanding student council involvement at the local, district and state levels. According to school officials, only 81 student councils across Missouri earned the distinction in 2026.
The Honor Council Award is based on an application process evaluating leadership and participation in areas including school service, school spirit, community service, student and teacher recognition, and leadership development.
The student council is advised by West Plains High School teachers Kirsten Peterson and Karsyn Smith. School officials praised the dedication of student leaders and advisors for promoting leadership opportunities and encouraging student involvement throughout the school community.
