WORDS TO LIVE BY: One another

Posted

Jesus’ words in John 13:34 are familiar to many. He said, “As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

Did you know that there are more than 50 instances of “one another” commands in the New Testament?

- “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another as God in Christ has forgiven you” (Eph. 4:32).

- “Encourage one another and build one another up” (1 Thess. 5:11).

- “Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Gal. 6:2).

- “See that none of you repays evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to all” (1 Thess. 5:15).

- “Therefore putting away lying, speak the truth, each one to his neighbor, because we are members of one another” (Eph. 4:25).

The way that we treat one another is important. When we follow these “one another” commands, we are following the teachings and example of Jesus.

Let’s remember what Jesus said: “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35).

May God bless your week!
