Sometimes it seems we spend a lot of time waiting. We wait in line at the grocery store. We wait at the red light at the intersection. We wait to be called to see the doctor or to be interviewed for a job. We wait for supper to be ready. We wait for important things and for ordinary, everyday things as well.
The dictionary says that to wait is to remain in place while expecting something to happen. Scripture instructs us to wait for the Lord. Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”
Isa. 40:31 tells us, “But those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
To wait for the Lord is not just to stand by idly; it is a conscious choice to trust in God’s promises. Waiting for the Lord involves prayer and faith that God can and will strengthen you in whatever challenge you face.
May God bless your week!
