The Yellow House Community Arts Center, 209 W. Trish Knight St. in West Plains, celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2024. It serves as a venue for art shows, comedy nights, musical performances and pop-up kitchens, endeavoring to foster a culture supportive of a variety of art forms.

The Yellow House Community Arts Center founded in 1994 by Dr. Ken Shafer, is a local staple and proud supporter of the fine arts. Larry and Nanette Weaver initially ran the house at 209 W. Trish Knight St. in West Plains as a restaurant with space for musical performances and a dance studio in the old garage. more

A production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella" is running today through Sunday at the West Plains Civic Center, 110 St. Louis Street. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children and may be purchased through Ticketmaster or by calling the civic center box office at 417-256-8087. Show times are 7 p.m. today and Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday. The musical is presented by the West Plains Playhouse. The West Plains Council on the Arts will host two "gossiping chicken" gourd painting workshops from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday in the Dogwood rooms at the West Plains Civic Center, 110 St. Louis St. The cost of the workshop is $35, all supplies included. more
The Last Supper, as interpreted by artist Johnnie Lee Fullington of West Plains, right, was sold to Robert F. Stroud, Jr., of Mtn. View, during Fullington's art show reception Thursday at The Frame Shop and Gallery, 403 Washington Ave. in West Plains. His work is scheduled to be on display through the end of January.
