Construction on improvements to the Glenwood School are close to being financed, and are scheduled to begin the first week of June, school officials have announced. The funding and improvements are the result of a ballot initiative passed by district patrons in April.

A West Plains man charged in March with five felony counts of possession of child pornography and arrested in April in Nebraska has been issued a summons to appear in court June 7 for a trial setting in the courtroom of Presiding 37th Circuit Judge Steven Privette, but court records show the summons was returned undeliverable on Friday after he moved without leaving a forwarding address.

The Quill has been informed by the defense attorney representing a West Plains teen that he has been acquitted of rape and sodomy after a 12-person jury found him not guilty. The trial of Levi Rand, 18, was held April 29 in Howell County, according to court documents.
