11 hurt in area crashes this past week

Serious injuries were reported for a 71-year-old motorcyclist in a crash at 4:15 p.m. Saturday on CC Highway west of U.S. 63 in Texas County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Cpl. J.R. Sellars of Troop G, Willow Springs, reported Harrod A. Baker, 71, was wearing a helmet when his westbound 2007 Harley-Davidson Softail began to slide, traveling off the lift side of the road and throwing Baker.

Baker was flown by air ambulance to Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, the report shows.

Sellars was assisted at the scene by the Licking Fire Department.

An ATV crash resulted in serious injuries for 19-year-old Bradin L. Massey, West Plains, at 12:15 p.m. Saturday on County Road 5120, 8 miles west of Pomona.

Cpl. M.T. Weakley reported Massey was driving a 2023 YFZ 405R ATV east, tried to make a sharp left hand turn and the ATV overturned. Neither he nor passenger Damian Henry, 30, also of West Plains, wore helmets, the report shows.

Massey was flown by Air Evac helicopter to Cox South, and Henry, who suffered minor injuries, was taken by South Howell County Ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains, Weakley reported.

Two Gatewood children suffered minor injuries in an ATV crash at 1:05 p.m. Sunday on Ripley County Road P-3 off of Highway 142, 5 miles east of Gatewood.

Tpr. G.L. Meloy, Troop E of the patrol, Poplar Bluff, reported an 11-year-old girl was driving a 2019 Honda Rancher north when it overturned, throwing her and a 10-year-old girl who was a passenger from the vehicle; neither wore a helmet.

Both girls were taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

The patrol does not publicize the names of minors in its reports.

Minor injuries were reported for an Eminence woman involved in a two-vehicle crash at 3:17 p.m. Saturday on Tom Acres Road in Eminence, Shannon County.

Msgt. B.D. Foster of Troop G reported Darla J. Shelton, 53, was not wearing a seat belt when her westbound 2015 Nissan Altima drove into the path of an oncoming 2017 Chevrolet Bolt driven by Ralph D. Case, 56, Van Buren, and hit the Chevrolet head-on.

Shelton was taken by Mercy Ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare, the report shows. No injuries were reported for Case, who wore a seat belt.

Two men suffered serious injuries in a crash at 8:50 a.m. Thursday on U.S. 60, 2 miles west of Mansfield in Wright County.

Msgt. D.B. Pounds reported an eastbound 2013 Fiat hatchback driven by Jesse C. Klein, 46, of Springfield, traveled off the right side of the road and rolled. Both the driver and his passenger, Chad M. Cline, 40, of Norwood, reportedly wore seat belts, and were taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment of their injuries. The driver was taken by Ava Ambulance, and his passenger was flown by Air Evac, the report shows.

Minor injuries were reported for two people who were in a crash at 7:37 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. 63 at the intersection of N Highway in Pomona.

Msgt. C.A. Kimes reported a 2020 Ford F350 driven west by Elizabeth Davis, 30, Willow Springs, traveled into the path of an oncoming 2011 Mazda CX7 SUV. The occupants of the SUV, driver Melissa J. Sillyman, 51, Willow Springs, and Arthur L. Castle, 27, West Plains, were both taken to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment of their injuries, Sillyman by South Howell County Ambulance and Castle by private vehicle, the report shows. Sillyman was reportedly not wearing a seat belt, and Castle was.

No injuries were reported for Davis, who wore a seat belt.
