Berean Baptist Church will host its “Illumination Station” Vacation Bible School at 6 p.m. beginning Sunday and continuing through June 18.
The free event is open to all ages, and Pastor Fred Palmer invites adults to attend a concurrent adult Bible study.
Themed around "shining a light on Jesus," the VBS will guide youth in exploring the ways Jesus illuminates lives and reveals the true nature of Christ. Daily activities will include worship services, Bible study, crafts, snacks and recreation.
The week's guiding scripture is John 8:12: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
To reflect this year's theme of "higher" illumination, church member Courtney Burgess created a new stained-glass front door for the church, depicting Jesus as the ultimate light who reveals truth, offers salvation and transforms lives.
The VBS program will culminate on its final night with glow sticks, sparklers and a bounce house.
Following VBS, the church will host a Community Fireworks fun night on June 27 to celebrate "freedom through Christ" ahead of the Fourth of July. The free event will include a bounce house, games, food, a big slide and a giant fireworks show.
