CBCO blood drive set for June 19

Posted

Ozarks Healthcare is encouraging community members to donate blood this summer to help meet regional needs, with a community blood drive scheduled for June 19.

The drive will take place from noon to 6 p.m. at the Parkway Center, 1211 Porter Wagoner Blvd. in West Plains.

Through a partnership with the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO), people who donate in June will receive special rewards while supplies last. Incentives include a free three-quarter-sleeve T-shirt and a Give & Go Fun Pass valued at more than $245. The pass features admission offers to regional attractions, including Northwest Arkansas Naturals baseball games, Fritz’s Adventure, SuperSplash USA and Andy B’s in Springfield.

“Blood donations play a critical role in supporting patients throughout our region,” said Terence Farrell, Ozarks Healthcare president and CEO. “One donation can help save multiple lives, and we are grateful to everyone who takes the time to give.”

The CBCO is the exclusive provider of blood, platelets and plasma to more than 40 hospitals across southwest Missouri, northwest Arkansas and southeast Kansas. According to the organization, someone in the region requires a blood transfusion every seven minutes.

Appointments are encouraged to minimize wait times, though walk-ins are welcome. Health officials advise donors to drink plenty of fluids, eat a healthy meal before arriving and bring a valid photo ID.

To schedule an appointment, call 417-227-5006 or visit www.cbco.org/donate-blood.
