Construction to affect access at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center

Area veterans and visitors to John J. Pershing U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Poplar Bluff should expect traffic changes, temporary closures and relocated services as construction projects begin this fall.

The work will take place in several areas across the main campus, and some projects may last up to three years.

“Our main facility in Poplar Bluff will be undergoing several upgrade projects in the near future, and we are asking veterans to be patient as the work proceeds,” said Kevin Bass, medical center director. “Some of these projects are slated for an extended time period but ultimately will allow us to provide better services and care.”

Construction will prompt temporary closures of some roads and entrances, as well as the relocation of some clinical services.

Some accessible parking spaces will be closed at times, but additional spaces have been created in the lot adjacent to the Learning Resources Center and in the lot outside Urgent Care.

“We understand these closures will be an inconvenience for veterans and their families, and we will do our best to make this period go as smoothly as possible,” Bass said.

Visitors are asked to watch for signs on campus for changes to road closures, building access and parking. Veterans and visitors also can find updates and closure maps on the facility’s website at va.gov/poplar-bluff-health-care/news-releases or on the medical center’s Facebook page, @PoplarBluffVAMC.
