To the editor:
The Josiah Howell Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution would like to thank the community for its support of the chapter’s July 8 readings of the Declaration of Independence.
The chapter held two readings that day, marking the date in 1776 when the Declaration was first revealed to the public. The first reading was held at 5 p.m. at the Howell County Courthouse to coincide with similar readings held nationwide. The second reading was held at 8 p.m. at McDonald’s Field, also known as Zizzer Stadium.
The chapter thanks West Plains R-7 Schools; local service providers; police, fire and emergency medical personnel; veterans service organizations; the honor guard; and local media outlets, including Ozark Radio News, the West Plains Daily Quill, Howell County News, Summersville Beacon and others.
The chapter also thanks its sponsors, including Freedom Patch Fireworks, Mandy’s Hot Dogs, Walmart, Horn’s Plumbing, Community First Banking Company, Southern Bank and others who provided marketing and financial support.
