The West Plains Lady Zizzers captured the Ozark Mountain Conference championship on Thursday edging out the competition in a fifth-score tiebreaker at Silo Ridge in Bolivar.
Three Lady Zizzers earned all-conference honors by finishing in the top 10. Rose Reeves placed fourth with an 88, Charlie Huddleston took fifth with a 93 and Bella Juline finished in eighth place with a 97.
West Plains head coach James Sharp noted the tournament was tight throughout the day and came down to the final hole.
"Allie Petrus needed a par on her final hole for us to win outright, or a bogey to send it to a fifth-score tiebreaker," Sharp said, noting the tiebreaker is used in high school golf when two teams finish with the same four-player score. "Allie almost sunk her par putt from about 25 feet, however she did leave herself a tap-in for bogey to send it to the tiebreaker. Our fifth scorer, Libby Gohn, beat their fifth by five strokes to secure the conference championship."
