Missouri State University-West Plains officials have announced the addition of Spencer Brown to the Grizzly Basketball coaching staff as assistant coach.

Brown joins the program this month, bringing NCAA Division I experience, successful high school coaching experience and a strong background in player development, said officials.

Most recently, Brown served as head junior varsity coach and assistant varsity coach at Fayetteville High School in Arkansas. During his tenure, the varsity program compiled a 67-29 record and won a conference championship during the 2025-26 season. He played a key role in player development, game planning, scouting and opponent analysis, contributing to the program's sustained success at the state's highest classification level, officials shared.

Before joining Fayetteville High School, Brown served as a graduate assistant for MSU-Springfield men's basketball from 2021 to 2023 under head coach Dana Ford. His responsibilities included scouting, recruiting operations, video coordination, player support and program administration. He also assisted student-athletes with NCAA eligibility requirements and academic expectations.

Brown was an NCAA Division I student-athlete at MSU from 2019 to 2021 after competing at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics level at Lyon College from 2016 to 2018. His experience also includes volunteer leadership roles with several college and youth basketball programs.

"We're excited to welcome Spencer to the Grizzly family. His experience as both a player and graduate assistant coach at Missouri State University, along with his success at Fayetteville High School, makes him a tremendous addition to our program," said Dillon Hargrove, MSU-WP head basketball coach. "He brings great energy and a passion for developing young men, and we're excited for the impact he'll have on Grizzly Basketball."

Brown earned a master's degree in sports management from MSU in May 2023 and a bachelor's degree in history from MSU in May 2021.
