West Plains VA clinic to host walk-in pneumonia vaccination clinic Aug. 7

Posted

The John J. Pershing U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs clinic in West Plains will host a no-
cost, walk-in pneumonia vaccination clinic for eligible veterans on Aug. 7.

The clinic will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the new West Plains facility, located at 1418
Doctors Drive. Because it is a walk-in clinic, no appointment is required.
Veterans enrolled in VA health care who are 50 and older are eligible for the vaccination, as are
those under 50 who meet certain medical criteria. Veterans are asked to bring their VA health
identification cards to the clinic.

The Department of Veterans Affairs and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
recommend routine pneumonia vaccinations for adults 50 and older to reduce the risk of serious
illness. The pop-up clinics are designed to provide an easy, convenient way for veterans to
protect themselves and prevent complications from the illness.
For area veterans who may prefer an earlier date, the main John J. Pershing VA Medical Center,
located at 1500 N. Westwood Blvd. in Poplar Bluff, will host a similar walk-in clinic from 8:30
a.m. to 3 p.m. July 16.
