Ozarks Healthcare and Texas County Memorial Hospital (TCMH) have partnered to expand
cardiology services in Houston. Dr. Muhammad Khan, an interventional cardiologist at the
Ozarks Healthcare Heart and Lung Center, will begin seeing patients at TCMH on May 27.
In addition to seeing patients in West Plains, Khan will hold regular clinic hours in Houston to
increase access to specialized cardiovascular care in the region.
Khan is board-certified and specializes in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease. His
clinical background includes performing interventional procedures, such as angioplasty and
stent placement, to treat blocked heart vessels. He completed medical training at St. Luke’s
Hospital in Chesterfield and the University of California, San Francisco.
According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause
of death in the U.S. Health officials note that preventative care and ongoing management of
conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes can help identify
concerns early and reduce the need for emergency interventions.
TCMH CEO Bill Bridges said the partnership allows patients to receive necessary heart care
without traveling long distances.
“Bringing Dr. Khan’s expertise to TCMH and the Houston area means our patients can receive
high-quality, life-saving heart care close to home,” Bridges said.
Terence Farrell, president and CEO of Ozarks Healthcare, echoed the sentiment, noting the
expansion will ensure more individuals across the rural service area have access to specialized
services.
Ozarks Healthcare operates an advanced cardiac catheterization lab and holds Primary Heart
Attack Center certification from The Joint Commission, as well as Primary Stroke Center
certification from the Accreditation Commission for Health Care. The West Plains hospital also
maintains Level II Stroke and STEMI designations, which recognize facilities capable of
performing primary percutaneous coronary intervention and receiving patient transfers from
other hospitals.
Patients can call the Ozarks Healthcare Heart and Lung Center at 417-257-5950 to schedule an
