INCIDENT REPORTS

At 11:05 a.m. Jan. 19, Officer Joby Hoopes was notified by dispatch of a person at the police station who was wanted on an active West Plains arrest warrant. The person was arrested and booked, tried to find a bondsman with no luck, and was then taken to Pomona and transferred to West Plains police custody.

Officers Jake Cronin and Cary Gates responded at 11:46 p.m. Jan. 20 to a call requesting a well-being check on some dogs. The person living at the house they were called to was found to be wanted on active Willow Springs arrest warrants. Officer Cronin arrested the person, who was then taken to the Howell County Jail.

At 8:43 a.m. Tuesday, Chief Wes Ellison and Sgt. David Struble responded to County Road 3780 and assisted the Missouri State Highway Patrol with transporting a person arrested on a Willow Springs warrant.

Officers Joe Barnhouse and David Hocking responded with Chief Ellison at 1:48 p.m. Tuesday to the area of Z Highway and Highway 76 for a report of a fight in progress. Two tickets were issued to the parties on charges of disorderly conduct; the parties were released with a court date.

TICKETS

Colby Lee Kernodle, Alton, was ticketed at 4:22 p.m. Jan. 21 on a charge of speeding by 11 to 15 mph. Officer Jim Hedlesten.

Christopher Lynn Scanlon, Willow Springs, was ticketed at 2:08 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of disorderly conduct. Officer Barnhouse.

Christina Luella Scanlon, Willow Springs, was ticketed at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of disorderly conduct. Officer Barnhouse.

CALLS FOR SERVICE

On Jan. 18, Officers Cronin and Gates heard an alarm going off at a business. The key holder was not able to be contacted so officers stayed on scene until the end of their shift. Nothing was found to be of concern.

Chief Ellison assisted an elderly woman with starting her car on Jan. 18.

On Jan. 18, Assistant Chief Al Lewis and Officer Hoopes provided two funeral escorts.

A person stopped in the police station on Jan. 18 to turn in electrical wire that had been found on abandoned city property. The owner did not have a need for it anymore, so it was disposed of.

On Jan. 18, Officer Cronin responded to a call regarding a domestic disturbance that had occurred. It was found nothing physical had taken place and the reporting party was advised it was a civil issue. Both parties filled out statement forms.

Officers Cronin and Gates located a youth in an alleyway on Jan. 19 and took her home.

On Jan. 19, a caller reported a lost iPhone and requested a call from police if it is turned in.

A citizen called police on Jan. 19 to inform them of a water leak in their backyard. Information was passed along to the city Water Department.

On Jan. 20, Officer Cronin responded to a domestic disturbance call on Corn Avenue. It was found a man had been drinking and taking handfuls of pills. Officers were able to get him to calm down and go with emergency medical personnel to the hospital for treatment of a possible overdose.

Officer Hedlesten checked on two people standing on the side of West Main Street on Jan. 20, who were dressed appropriately for conditions. They were fine and praying like they do every Saturday around noon.

On Jan. 20, Officer Hedlesten took a call from a citizen who had sold a vehicle and was not getting paid. The caller was advised to contact an attorney.

Officer Barnhouse responded to a residential alarm on Jan. 21 in the area of Clingan Avenue and Pine Grove Road. The homeowner was contacted and it turned out to be a false alarm.

On Jan. 21, Officer Hedlesten responded to a call regarding suspicious circumstances on East Main Street. The reporting party said he was being followed around a store, but the person following him had since left.

Officer Ryan McGinnis took a phone number on Jan. 21 from a man who lost his blue heeler and wanted a call if it was found.

On Jan. 22, a caller reported an elderly man walking down DD Highway was nearly struck by vehicles twice. Officers Hocking and Barnhouse responded but could not find him. They later learned from city hall the man had showed up there and was given a ride home.

Officer Hocking spoke to a person on Jan. 22 who requested a well-being check on someone who was possibly suicidal but said they did not need help; no mental health issues were observed.

On Tuesday, a person called to request assistance in his basement from officers due to his disability and ice on the sidewalk. Sgt. Struble responded.

Officer Barnhouse conducted a well-being check Tuesday on North Center Street due to an open 911 call. The resident of the home was unaware his phone had dialed 911 and said he would check his phone for issues.

On Tuesday, Animal Control Officer Mark Templemere responded to East Main Street for a report of a wounded deer on the railroad tracks. It was gone when he arrived.

Officers Hocking and Barnhouse conducted a funeral escort on Tuesday.

A resident of Corn Avenue spoke to ACO Templemere on Tuesday and said animals had not been fed due to financial hardship. A small amount of dog food was donated for the animals.

On Tuesday, a person called police because she thought someone was following her. Officer Barnhouse responded and discovered it was a worker doing his job.

Officer McGinnis conducted a well-being check Tuesday on North Harris Street; the subject said everything was fine.

On Tuesday, Officer McGinnis and Sgt. Struble responded to a business alarm on East Main Street, secured doors and found everything to be OK.

Officer McGinnis responded to an abandoned vehicle Wednesday on U.S. 60/63. The vehicle was locked and would be checked again later in the shift.

On Wednesday, Chief Ellison and Assistant Chief Lewis responded to Highway 76 for a suspicious person. The person was found to be impaired due to a reaction to medication, and was picked up.

Officers Hoopes and Barnhouse responded on Wednesday to a home on North Grand Street for a harassment call. A statement form was left to be filled out and returned.

On Wednesday, a citizen went to the police station to turn in an ID found on the road. Officer Hocking took the ID.

Officer McGinnis made contact with a driver Wednesday in the area of Industrial Drive and Railroad Drive to see if assistance was needed. The driver was cleaning up a spilled drink.
