WORDS TO LIVE BY: Knowledge of God

Posted

In Hosea 4:6, we read, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge! Because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me; and since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.”

In eighth century B.C. Israel, the leaders failed to teach the people God’s law. God’s teachings were ignored, and the people had no personal, intimate knowledge of God.

The biblical word "know" describes a comprehension of what is important to God. To ignore and fail to follow God’s teachings is to reject God. The prophets warned the people of Israel and Judah, but they did not listen.

May we study the Bible, pray and follow the words of Col. 1:9-10: “We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of God’s will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.”

May God bless your week!
