The Josiah Howell Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution recently recognized Cathy Roberts of West Plains with the Lydia Darragh Medal.
Darragh was an American who obtained information that aided the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War.
Roberts, a member of the Ozark Spring Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, assists the Josiah Howell Chapter with educational programs about life and culture during the Revolutionary War. She provides period-appropriate clothing and props when chapter members present programs at schools and other community gatherings.
She also models the clothing and explains aspects of daily life and the skills people used during the Revolutionary War era.
The medal was presented by Missouri Society Sons of the American Revolution President Ken Lawrence on Sept. 12 during the chapter’s third annual picnic at Galloway Park in West Plains.
