AT A GLANCE
April 19
Assistant Chief Trenton Roberts was dispatched to Signal gas station to conduct a well-being
check following a report of a man hitting a child in a vehicle. The vehicle had left for Shannon
County before he could locate it. The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Shannon County
Sheriff’s Office were notified.
Library personnel turned in a found wallet to Assistant Chief Roberts. It was placed into the lost
and found at the police department.
April 20
Marcus Pratt, 21, Republic, was ticketed by Reserve Officer James Wardrip at 1:05 p.m. on a
charge of careless and imprudent driving.
Damon Harvey, 22, Thayer, was ticketed by Officer Wardrip at 1:14 p.m. on a charge of careless
and imprudent driving.
April 21
A woman reported her landlord took her cat and was holding it hostage in another town, holding
it until the cat’s owner paid money. Officer Wardrip left a complaint form with the reporting party
and made plans to contact the landlord.
April 22
A caller reported a goat belonging to a residence on Fifth Street had gotten out and was in the
walking park eating plants. The owner and Officer Wardrip arrived at the same time; the goat
was placed back in its pen.
April 23
Reserve Officer Jacob Brixey responded to Mercy St. Francis Hospital to assist the Shannon
County Sheriff’s Office in getting a statement from the victim of a gunshot wound.
A woman causing a disturbance was removed from property and given a courtesy ride by Officer
Matthew Combs to the crisis center in West Plains. When they arrived, she became
unresponsive and an ambulance was called to take her to the hospital.
April 24
Officer Combs and Assistant Chief Roberts conducted a well-being check after a caller reported
a neighbor was yelling, “Who is your master?” and not acting like himself. The resident of the
home the officers were checking on arrived at the same time as the officers and said no one had
been home, so he was unsure where the yelling was coming from.
April 27
A person reported his son assaulted his girlfriend and had access to a gun. Chief Schwien and
Assistant Chief Robert responded, and were advised the son had left on foot. They spoke to a
woman who was filling out a report. Later that day, both officers responded to a call with Officer
Wardrip in which they reported the man was back, threatening another man and stating he had
a firearm. They spoke to both the subject of the call and the reporting party, informing them of
the 12-hour separation rule. A report was taken.
April 28
Cpl. Kylie McGee took a call from a woman who reported a tornado siren near Angelica Street
had not activated, and wanted to make sure it was working. A message was relayed to
emergency management personnel.
April 29
Brenden Sherman, 25, Mtn. View, was ticketed by Officer Brixey at 6:36 p.m. on a charge of
careless and imprudent driving.
May 4
Tara Kelly-Reed, 45, Mtn. View, was ticketed by Officer Brixey at 9 p.m. on charges of driving
while intoxicated by alcohol and making a false report, plus two counts of a charge of child
endangerment.
May 5
A dog repeatedly tried to get inside the Mercy St. Francis Hospital Emergency Department.
Officer Brixey tried to catch the dog but could not get close enough, and it ran off.
May 7
Timothy Shomaker, 20, was ticketed by Sgt. Nathan Griffin at 11:24 p.m. on a charge of careless
and imprudent driving.
