Serious injuries reported for 3 in midweek crashes

An man and woman, both 86 and of Willow Springs, suffered serious injuries when they were struck by a tractor at 4:43 p.m. Thursday on County Road 2480 near Willow Springs, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Tpr. C.C. Battreal, with Troop G of the patrol, Willow Springs, reported an eastbound Ford tractor rolled forward and struck the man and woman, then struck a log and a tree. Information about the tractor’s operator was reportedly not known.

Both were flown by aircraft to Cox South Medical Center in Springfield for treatment. Battreal was assisted at the scene by Tpr. N.G. Britt.

A 22-year-old Cabool man suffered serious injuries in a crash at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 60 at Highway 181 in Cabool in Texas County.

Tpr. T.L. Sullivan reported a westbound 2014 Toyota Camry driven by the man was traveling at a high rate of speed, went off the right side of the road, struck a bridge support, became airborne, struck two more bridge supports and came to rest on the right side of the road.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was taken by ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains for treatment.

Sullivan was assisted at the scene by Cpl. J.L. Dedmon and the Cabool Police Department.
