The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission has awarded several multimillion-dollar contracts for infrastructure projects across southern Missouri, including significant pavement improvements and a bridge replacement near West Plains.
During its May meeting, held Wednesday, the commission awarded a $2.46 million contract to Pace Construction Co. for pavement improvements on three regional routes. Those include ZZ Highway from U.S. 63 to the end of state maintenance east of West Plains; AA Highway from Highway 19 to the end of state maintenance in Oregon County; and K Highway from KK Highway to Highway 17 in Texas County.
West Plains Bridge & Grading was awarded a $2.03 million contract to replace the Highway 38 bridge over Dove Creek in neighboring Wright County.
Reynolds Sealing and Striping Inc. received a $1.76 million contract for pavement marking improvements along major regional corridors. The work will impact U.S. 63 from U.S. 60 to Highway 14, U.S. 60 from the Webster County line to Interstate 55, and U.S. 67 from the Jefferson County line to U.S. 160.
Several districtwide contracts were also awarded that will fund infrastructure maintenance throughout the Southeast District, which includes Howell and surrounding counties. Putz Construction was awarded $595,000 for concrete pavement repairs on major highways and $178,000 for Americans with Disabilities Act sidewalk improvements. Collins & Hermann received two contracts totaling more than $3.7 million for guard cable and guardrail repairs, and H.R. Quadri Contractors was awarded $1.23 million for erosion control repairs across the district.
In other business, the commission awarded roughly $3.4 million in contracts for projects further east. These include a bridge replacement over the Whitewater River in Cape Girardeau County, a pipe extension and ditch lining project in Mississippi County, and concrete repairs along interstates 55, 57 and 155.
