The Missouri Department of Transportation has scheduled several road improvement and maintenance projects across Shannon, Howell and Carter counties over the coming weeks. Drivers should anticipate lane reductions and plan for minor delays in the affected areas.
Starting this week, Highway 19 in Shannon County is reduced to one lane as crews perform pavement repairs between A Highway and Highway 106 in Eminence. Work will take place from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily through Wednesday.
Two projects are slated to run from Monday, through Thursday. In Shannon County, NN Highway will be reduced to one lane for pavement repairs from County Road 522 to H Highway near Winona, with work running from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Meanwhile, in Howell County, W Highway will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction as crews perform maintenance on the Eleven Point River Bridge, located between County Road 1920 and County Road 2000. Work on that project will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
Additional pavement repairs are scheduled from Monday through May 18 in Shannon County. DD Highway will be reduced to one lane from County Road 585 to U.S. 60 near Winona. Likewise, W Highway will be reduced to one lane from County Road 568 to U.S. 60 near Winona. Work on both routes will take place from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
Looking further ahead, eastbound and westbound U.S. 60 will undergo seal coat operations to improve the driving surface between J Highway in Carter County and Highway 17 in Shannon County. A seal coat is a pavement repair process that sprays hot emulsion oil onto the road surface, followed by finely ground rocks, to seal out water, improve traction and extend the roadway's lifespan. Work will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily from May 18 through 21.
All active work zones will be marked with signs. MoDOT urges motorists to use extreme caution while traveling near these areas. Weather conditions may affect or delay these schedules.
