To the editor:
On behalf of the Lions Club of Willow Springs, thank you to the sponsors and players who helped make the 45th annual Father’s Day Golf Tournament one of our strongest and most meaningful events yet. Your generosity, enthusiasm and community spirit carried this tournament from start to finish.
To our sponsors: Your support fuels every service project we take on, including the School Backpack Program, KidSight Vision Screening, vision assistance for eyeglasses, the Large Print Book Program at the Willow Springs Public Library, the Lions Club Scholarship Program, Mighty Mite Football and Cheerleaders, the annual Easter egg hunt and free hayrides at Trunk or Treat. Your commitment strengthens our town in ways that reach far beyond the golf course.
To our players: Thank you for showing up with energy, sportsmanship and a willingness to spend your weekend supporting a cause that touches so many lives. Without your participation, none of this would be possible. Five years ago, we had 40 teams play in the weekend tournament. This year, we had 60 teams enter, and I am sure we lost a few team entries due to the weather forecast. We will continue to look for ways to make this tournament bigger and better in years to come.
To the City of Willow Springs golf staff: You go above and beyond each year to get the golf course into amazing shape, and this year was no exception. Golfers don’t give up their weekend to play on a burnt-out golf course. We would not have had 60 teams signed up without your hard work and dedication.
We are deeply grateful to each of you. Together, you help the Lions continue serving our neighbors and building a stronger community.
Dennis Asher,
Willow Springs Lions Club
