May 27

Doug Jason McClaren, 42, was arrested by Officer Jacob Wartanby on charges of first-degree burglary, second-degree domestic assault, first-degree rape or attempt, tampering with a victim in a felony case or attempt, unlawful use of a weapon by exhibiting and violation of an order of protection. He was released the following day without bond.

Officer Wartanby responded at 2:54 p.m. to the police department lobby to take a report of forgery. Two women reported their mother is not mentally competent and her name had been signed on legal documents, but they did not believe it to be her authentic signature. Investigation is ongoing.

 

May 28

David Brian Woods Sr., 50, was arrested by Sgt. Josh Wichowski on charges of first-degree burglary and second-degree property damage. He was released the same day without bond.

At 3 p.m., Officer Robert Shell took a report of false impersonation. Charges were forwarded to county prosecutors for review.

 

May 29

Officer Katie Sandgren responded at 4:05 p.m. to the 500 block of Worcester Street for a report of a small child unattended in the road. The toddler was returned to a caregiver and a hotline call was placed with the Missouri Child Abuse and Neglect line.

 

June 1

Officer Jesse Martin was dispatched at 9:26 a.m. to Edward Jones-Mark Lewis on Preacher Roe Boulevard to take a report of property damage.

 

June 2

At 8:18 a.m., Officer Martin was dispatched to Snappy Mart 11 on U.S. 63 to take a report of counterfeit money. An investigation is ongoing.

Officer Jacob Wartnaby responded at 6:01 p.m. to the 1900 block of Kissinger Street after a report that a suspect was outside discharging a firearm and had physically assaulted a victim. The suspect was located elsewhere, arrested on a charge of third-degree domestic assault, and booked into the city jail

 

June 4

Officer Nathaniel Siegrist responded at 10:32 a.m. to a home on Burke Avenue for a report of an unattended child walking outside of the apartment complex. The incident was documented and reported to the Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline.

 

June 9

Officer Caleb Kerley was dispatched at 8:32 p.m. to the 1000 block of Lincoln Avenue for a disturbance. It was learned that a man in an argument had been shot in the stomach. Officers rendered aid until emergency medical personnel arrived. The case was referred to detectives for investigation.

 

June 23

At 11:18 a.m., Cpl. Trent Kinder responded to a harassment call on the 2000 block of K Highway. Upon contact, a man at the scene became highly agitated, actively assaulted responding officers and refused to comply. He was taken into custody and transported by ambulance to the hospital emergency room for a safety evaluation.

Officer Daiman Meyer responded at 10:56 p.m. to the 600 block of Missouri Avenue for a domestic dispute in which a woman was assaulted A suspect was identified, arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges of second-degree domestic assault.

 

June 30

At 7:31 p.m., Officer Shell was dispatched to the 600 block of Joe Jones Boulevard to take a report of assault. A man was later arrested and taken to the Howell County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges. The case was classified as first-degree property damage and charges were sent to the county prosecutor’s office for review.

 

July 1

Officer Wartanby responded at 10:37 a.m. to the 3200 block of U.S. 63 to take a report of theft, value $25,000 or more. The case remains open for investigation.

 

July 3

At 8:51 a.m., Officer Wartanby responded to the 900 block of Renfrow Street for a report of first-degree trespassing. A phone believed to belong to the suspect was collected as evidence. The case is open for investigation.

 

July 7

At 10:30 a.m., Detective John Hughston served a search warrant at Silver Springs Storage on County Road 1280, after assisting the South Central Drug Task Force with a narcotics investigation the previous night. Investigation is ongoing.

Officer Martin was dispatched at 1:39 p.m. to On-Scene Upfitters at 205 E. Trish Knight St. to take a report of property damage. Investigation is ongoing.

 

July 8

At 12:35 p.m., Officer Wartanby responded to the 200 block of Leyda Street for a report of a person riding a bicycle with a firearm, yelling at people. After investigating, a man reportedly pointed a gun at someone, a pursuit ensued and the man was taken into custody. The case will be sent to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney’s office.

Logan Taylor Bell, 22, was arrested by Officer Whitley Dobbs on charges of failure to obey a lawful order and resisting arrest. He was released the following day without bond.

 

July 9

At 1:52 p.m., Officer Dobbs took a report regarding a violation of an order of protection. The victim reported the suspect drove on the wrong side of the road toward the victim. A probable cause statement was sent to prosecutors seeking charges relating to violating an order of protection, fourth-degree domestic assault, first-degree harassment and first-degree child endangerment.

 

July 10

Officer Meyer executed a narcotics search warrant on a residence at 2:09 p.m. on the 1000 block of Sixth Street. Two people found in the home were arrested on charges relating to possession of a controlled substance and illegal drug paraphernalia.
