In a partnership between the West Plains Council on the Arts and the West Plains Public Library, photography and artwork by area artist Kelli Albin will be featured through the end of December. Visitors may view the display between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. weekdays at the library, or 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.  more

CASA gets $500 boost from Edward Jones-Kevin Brown

The experience is open to students and the community. Estrella, front row right in the photo above, shared this image from the Cahuita Natural Park in Costa Rica. The Bakersfield American Legion Post 374 recently held a gun giveaway as a fundraiser for its programs, netting $3,411. The money will help pay for the post's support of the Wounded Warriors Project, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a Bakersfield High School medal award for graduates who are military enlistees, the purchase of flags for schools, Legion Hall maintenance and upkeep, and veteran and dependent assistance and scholarships. The gun given away is a Henry 44 magnum Golden Boy rifle. Landry Case Jenkins and Sienna Lee Sundeen were married July 29, 2024, at The Workshop at Findley Farms, Ozark. The groom is the soon of Morris and Janine Jenkins, Alton, and the bride is the daughter of Darin and Becky Sundeen, Lakewood, Colo. Grandparents are David and Rosemary Case, Joyce Jenkins and the late Glen Jenkins, Alton, and Gary and Sandra Turner, Sulphur Springs, Texas, and Dale and Jan Sundeen, Grand Junction, Colo. Landry and Sienna are both attending Mission University in Springfield. After a honeymoon to Breckenridge, Col., they are at home in Springfield.

On Sept. 11, the Mtn. View Garden Club hosted the South Central Fall District Meeting at the Community Center. Members of the Sunbonnet Garden Club from Lebanon and the Stargazer Garden Club from Marshfield traveled to the meeting. Beverly Wattenbarger, president of the Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri; Tanya Stanley, first vice president; Diane Neterer, second vice president; Ellen Eddleman, third vice president; and Mtn. View Garden Club member Josephine Goodenow, treasurer of the state organization, were guests. Mtn. View Mayor Charry McCann welcomed the guests to the city. Former club member Connie Porter and the Line Dancers from the Mtn. View Senior Center danced for the group. The guest speaker for the afternoon was Marty Toll's granddaughter, Jen Wharton. Wharton, shown here with her works, is a professional photographer and nature enthusiast from southern Illinois. “Not only did she share some of the amazing photos that she'd recently taken but she also shared tips on how we too can easily take beautiful photos such as these,” shared club member Robi Tanner. The Mtn.
